A helicopter is able to fly in any direction because all it needs to be able to move in the sky is a little tilt of the rotors. A helicopter can fly up down left and right. It can also hover in mid-air without moving in any direction. The helicopter gets its power from its rotors because they are the same shape as plane’s wings which means when they turn the air flows more quickly over the top of the blades which generates lift. Inside a helicopter there are some foot pedals that when used they push the tail rotor back and forth this controls the amount of sideways thrust. There is a lever between the seats which is called the collective and this when pulled up or down it moves all the blades at the same time. There is also an option on the collective that when twisted it changes the amount of throttle. The last main control on a helicopter is called the Cyclic and it enables the helicopter to move forward backward and sideways. The angle of attack on helicopters rotors are important because it makes the helicopter be able to move through the air. A helicopter is just like a plane as its rotors are exactly like the wings on a plane except that a helicopter can move left right up down and hover in mid air.
